The 41 st Annual Tour, also know as the “Jolly Boys Outing”, was to the newly revamped Eaton Hall Shooting Ground in Derbyshire. The shooting ground was amazing, the weather was great and some good food and a beer or three. Huge thanks to our resident Travel Agent, ‘Jive Bunny’ Brendan. A great job and a huge challenge to arrange everything, well done for another fantastic tour. A big thank you to all the team at Eaton Hall Shooting Ground in Doveridge for a very warm welcome, a huge selection of shooing, and some very challenging targets. We managed to fit in English Sporting, Sportrap, and DTL. The shooting ground was amazing with many different stands spread over a huge area. The clubhouse has a great restaurant, we all had customised buggies so didn’t have to walk between stands. They even have Helicopter Pads for the more elite visitors. The order of the day was a quick ‘Nifty Fifty’ on the way up on Thursday, 150 birds on Friday, 100 Sporting in the morning followed by 50 Sportrap after lunch. Then, for Saturday, a 100 Sporting birds in the morning, followed by Lunch and then a very challenging 50 birds on the DTL area to finish. the DTL proved to be very tough and destroyed some good score cards!! The food this year was excellent with a massive selection of everything at the New Water Margin Chinese with an all you can eat buffet on Thursday evening - and boy did we eat some food. On Friday, we celebrated the infamous ‘Shite Shirt’ evening with an excellent meal at the great Cosy Club Restaurant. Some very good food and a few very dodgy shirts!! Congratulations to Johan for winning this year with the most horrendous Duck Shirt and top marks to Brendan for giving his shirt away to some complete stranger in the middle of Derby Town Centre. For Saturday, we polished off some huge steaks at Emily’s Steak House Restaurant. Especially 2Bob and Johan who had a cow split between them. Some fantastic food and great service from all three venues - great choices from our Travel Agent. In between all the eating a fair few pints were downed at the White Horse Pub, a few great nights including some great 80’s Disco and a Ska Band on one evening.
The Trophies This year we have Trophies for ‘High Gun’, 2 nd and 3 rd place in straight shooting. In the handicap shooting we have Trophies for 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd place. And, instead of the usual ‘Wooden Spoon’, this year we have the ‘Losers Trophy’ for the worst straight shooting score.
Straight Shooting Results
Below is the breakdown of the final scores and rankings for Straight Shooting. This year, we shot 150 on the Friday, 100 Sporting in the morning and 50 Sportrap in the afternoon, and a further 100 Sporting on the Saturday morning, and 50 DTL in the afternoon, giving a maximum score of 300.

Despite some stiff competition with Steve Carr’s Pyjama Suite, Darrell’s ‘glow in the dark’ Frilly Thing, Dave’s ‘oven ready’ Baco Foil and some other extremely dodgy shirts, our very own Happy Swede, Johan Widlund won with the most horrendous shirt. It was so popular, the chicks were all over him!! - A well deserved Award.
