The 2025 F&F 40th Anniversary Tour was a huge success, a fantastic shooting ground, great weather, amazing food and a few beers for good measure. Top marks to our resident travel agent, ‘Jive Bunny’ Brendan for arranging everything - not an easy task by any means, herding the F&F Cats and getting everyone in the right place at the right time - well done for another great tour. A big thank you to John (the good looking one to the right) and the rest of the team at Sporting Targets in Bedford for making us feel very welcome and laying on some very challenging targets (yes there were a few blobs on the score cards!!). The layout was fantastic and had a bit of everything from easy to insanely difficult, great fun indeed. The shooting ground was excellent with many different stands and some tall towers - see the map to the left or you can click on it to see the interactive one on the Sporting Targets website. The order of the day was a quick ‘Nifty Fifty’ on the way up on Thursday, 200 birds on Friday (100 in the morning and 100 after lunch). Then a 100 birds on Saturday, followed by Lunch and then a bit of fun on the 100 bird Flurry. And, to finish another ‘Nifty Fifty’ on the way home on Sunday. The food this year was excellent with a massive selection of everything at Sorrentino Ristorante in Northampton on Thursday. On Friday we had an ‘all you can eat’ at the Mayflower Chinese in Northampton and celebrated our Shite Shirt evening. The food was great and so much came out we had to ask them to stop - something that has never happened at an F&F dinner before. To round off the tour, on Saturday we had dinner at the Cartel Brasserie & Grill for a steak or three!! Excellent service and food from all three venues.
The Trophies
This year we have Trophies for ‘High Gun’, 2 nd and 3 rd place in straight shooting. In the handicap shooting we have Trophies for 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd place. And, not forgetting, the infamous Wooden Spoon for the worst straight shooting score. There was no ‘old farts’ Saturday Trophy this year, however, talking of ‘old farts’ we had two special lifetime dedication awards. And, finally we had an extra special ‘Shite ‘Shirt’ award this year!
Straight Shooting Results
Below is the breakdown of the final scores and rankings for Straight Shooting. This year, we shot 200 on the Friday (100 in the morning and 100 in the afternoon) and a further 100 on the Saturday morning, giving a maximum score of 300.

Nifty Fifty Sunday Lifetime Dedication - Roy Grogan
Roy Grogan A big thank you for co-founding the F&F Club that has given 40 years of enjoyment so far and long may it continue. Roy has dedicated many years to F&F and is the only founder member still shooting.
The Shite Shirt Award
Shite Shirt Award Shite Shirt Award Shite Shirt Award Smoking Shotgun Broken Clay
Despite some stiff competition and some extremely dodgy shirts, our very own Didgeridoo Mendham won with the most horrendous shirt. How on earth the buttons held on to the volume of Chinese consumed during the evening must be something of a record. A well deserved Award.
